Students Facing Murder Charges Seek Plea Bargain Permission From Court

Two high school students who were arrested after being implicated in the death of a man seven months ago now want the court to allow them to seek reconciliation with the deceased’s family through a plea bargain.

Eldoret High Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi was told by Oliver Kipruto (form four) and Brian Kipruto (form two) that the deceased’s family was ready and willing to accept a plea bargain agreement with them.

In the murder case, the accused are represented by lawyer Nathan Oburu.

On January 6th of this year, they were arrested by police from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Department in connection with the murder of Dennis Kiplimo.

This was after the suspects, along with others who were not present in court, clobbered to death the deceased after the first accused caught him stealing from his house in Osonga village in Turbo sub-county, Uasin Gishu County.

According to the charge sheet, the deceased was subjected to mob justice before being rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries upon arrival.

The first accused is released on a Ksh 400,000 bond, while his co-accused is remanded at Eldoret GK prison after failing to raise the bond imposed by the court.
