St. Joseph’s Girls High School Kitale is determined to emerge victorious in this year’s East African School Games, following a disappointing loss in the semi-finals of the 2022 competition to Rwanda’s Kizinguri.

The team, which recently won the national handball championship after narrowly defeating defending champions Moi Girls Kamusinga 16-15 in the final, is counting on goalkeeper Dedorah Natecho to lead them to success once again, after her impressive performance in the previous tournament.

Head coach Maureen Sitati is determined to dominate the East African scene, and has encouraged her players to continue to work together defensively.

She has also emphasized the importance of playing according to the team’s training regimen rather than adjusting their game to suit the opponent’s style of play.

Sitati believes that St. Joseph’s biggest challenges will come from Rwanda and Uganda, but feels that her team is fully prepared to handle them this time around.

St. Joseph’s Girls High School Kitale will be making their second appearance at the East African School Games and is eager to make a name for themselves.

“The players are psychologically fit and are ready to take on last year’s winners after their height intimidated them in their last outing,” Sitati said.

The team is determined to add more silverware to their trophy cabinet and leave their mark on the competition.

However, the current East African handball titleholders are Kizinguri, and St. Joseph’s will need to overcome them to achieve their goal.
