Shanderema High School Beats Agoro Sare, Punches Ticket to East African Games
Shanderema High School of the Western Region defeated Agoro Sare by a score of 5-1 at Bukhungu Stadium to claim their place in the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Games in Huye, Rwanda.
This was a successful revival after both teams lost their respective semi-final matches on Friday. After a 1-1 draw with Dagoreti on Friday, Agoro Sare endured extra time and penalties in a difficult match. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful, and they were eliminated after suffering a 3-0 loss in the penalty shootout.
Shanderema, on the other hand, suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to St Antony Kitale, which motivated them to win the quarterfinal match. Shanderema dominated proceedings from the opening bell, exploiting Agoro Sare’s weaknesses and capitalizing on their errors.
Collins Kati demonstrated his skill in the 20th minute by dribbling past the Agoro left back and delivering a deflected cross-com shot that struck the back of the net to give Shanderema the early lead.
In the 30th minute, Agoro Sare trailed by two goals after Shanderema orchestrated a well-executed play that resulted in a powerful strike near the goalkeeper’s post.
Kati continued his remarkable performance by netting his second goal just before intermission, extending Shanderema’s lead to 3-0 in the opening forty minutes. Before halftime, Agoro Sare scored a goal by capitalizing on a well-executed set piece to reduce the deficit.
Their prospects of a comeback were dashed, however, when Shanderema’s relentless attack led to a penalty kick opportunity.
Shanderema’s determination remained unwavering despite the failure of the penalty. Moments later, Elly Malala headed the ball into the net unchallenged off Kati’s cross, extending Shanderema’s commanding lead to 4-1.
Maxwell Wamalwa delivered the decisive strike by expertly executing a set-piece strategy, sealing Agoro Sare’s fate and propelling Shanderema to a decisive 5-1 victory.
