Secondary Schools Where Ruto’s Cabinet Secretaries Nominees Studied
The list of cabinet nominees proposed by President William Ruto reflects a variety of backgrounds, including technocrats, seasoned politicians, and a few novices.
Having run on a “common man” platform, Ruto released a list of Kenyans with various academic credentials, some of which surprised the nation.
From former Gatundu South MP and incoming Cabinet Secretary for Trade, Moses Kuria, and former Malindi MP and nominee for Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Aisha Jumwa.
Moses Kuria – Ituru High School
Moses Kuria, a candidate for the position of minister of trade, investment, and industry, attended Ituru High School in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, for his secondary education. Kuria transferred to Thika High School to complete his education.
Later, Kuria enrolled in the University of Nairobi (UoN) to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Prior to entering politics, Kuria worked in the banking business and other private sector industries.
Salim Mvurya – Mpeketoni Secondary School
From 1987 until 1990, Mining and Blue Economy CS nominee Salim Mvurya attended Mpeketoni Secondary School. The school is located in Lamu County’s Lamu West Constituency.
Mvurya continued his education at Egerton University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management in 1996. A
dditionally, the former Kwale governor possesses a Master’s in Participation, Power, and Social Change from the Institute of Development Studies in England.
Franklin Mithika Linturi – Igembe Boys High School
Franklin Mithika Linturi, the contender for Agriculture and Livestock Development CS, attended Igembe Boys High School in Meru County.
Later, Linturi attended the Meru Technical Institute, where he earned his Certified Public Accountant certification (CPA).
He also possesses a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi, although the legitimacy of this degree was contested in 2018.
Florence Bore – Kipsigis Girls High School
Florence Bore, the proposed Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, attended Kipsigis High School in Kericho County from 1984 to 1989.
She passed the Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) and Kenya Advance Certificate of Education examinations in 1987 and 1989, respectively, before enrolling in the Kagumo Teachers Training College to get a Diploma in Education.
In 2009, Florence attended Kenya University in pursuit of a Bachelor of Education.
Ezekiel Machogu – Nduru High School
The nominee for Cabinet Secretary for Education, Ezekiel Machogu, is a former student of Nduru High School in Kisii County.
Prior to attending Agoro Sare High School in Homa Bay County for his “A” levels, Machogu completed his “O” levels.
Former Nyaribari Masaba lawmaker attained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nairobi.
Aisha Jumwa, a nominee for Public Service and Gender who attended Nyali Senior School, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who attended Tharaka Boys High School, and Ababu Namwamba, who attended Kolanya Boys High School, are among important nominees.
The contender for the Environment and Forestry docket, Soipan Tuya, attended the famous Kenya High School, while Kipchumba Murkomen attended St. Patrick’s High School, Iten.
