School Principal’s Death Shocks Kisii County Teaching Fraternity
Shem Abere, the Principal of Rianyabaro Centre of Excellence Secondary School in Kisii County, has tragically passed away due to a road accident near Gesonso police station along the Kisii-Suneka road yesterday night.
According to Joseph Abincha, the Executive Secretary of Kisii County KUPPET, the accident occurred while Abere was returning from Moi Gesusu High School after attending a music festival for Primary and Junior Secondary Schools.
His vehicle lost control, collided head-on with a truck, and subsequently rolled into a ditch, resulting in his immediate death.
Abincha expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the union, the teaching fraternity, and the entire school community over the sudden loss of Principal Abere.
He described Abere as a dedicated educator who held several leadership roles, including Vice Chairman of the Kisii County Teachers Welfare Association (KICOTWA).
The Executive Secretary extended heartfelt condolences to Abere’s family, urging them to find solace in their faith during this difficult time.
Kisii police authorities, led by Charles Keses, confirmed the incident and reported that Abere’s body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for postmortem examination.
Keses emphasized the need for improved road safety among motorists and pedestrians to prevent further tragedies.
The tragic event adds to recent losses in the educational community, occurring less than a month after another Principal lost her life in a hit-and-run accident in Nyaribari Chache Constituency.
