
School Heads Warned Against Hiking Fees And Employing Non-TSC Registered Teachers.
School heads have been warned against charging unnecessary fees and employing teachers who are not registered by the teachers’ employer.
The Heads have also been warned against introducing unnecessary fees without the consent of the parents and the BOM of the schools.
Ms Lilian Mwangi, TSC’s Western regional Director called upon the school heads to be servant leaders and always lead from the front.
“I want to sound a firm warning to school heads who are still charging interview fees on new students, and also avoid employing teachers who are not registered by the commission,” she urged.
She urged the teachers to uphold the values of honesty, kindness, self-control, emotional intelligence, courage, compassion, and simplicity in their daily activities.
She urged parents to share the responsibility of monitoring their children’s progress in school.
“Parents and the state must work together to ensure quality education is achieved,” she noted.
She was speaking during the Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association (KEPSHA) western region annual meeting at the Farmview Hotel.
Busia First Lady H.E Judith Ojaamong also attended the 9th Western Region Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA) conference.
She praised KEPSHA organizers for choosing Busia as the venue for the event, which will also benefit the local hospitality and business communities.
"I appreciate the organizers for considering to bring this event to Busia being the best county in hospitality in the region. I take this opportunity to welcome you all to Busia and feel at home,“ she said.
Mrs. Ojaamong praised Busia teachers’ and the Department of Education’s collaboration on issues affecting scholars in the county.

Busia County Government has already developed policies to improve education, such as the Busia County Early Childhood Education Act of 2021, which aids the County in the management of ECDs and childcare centers.
The other policy is the Vocational Training Centers Act of 2021, which is intended to help with VTC management in the County.
