Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua reiterated the political shareholding narrative, emphasizing that the Kenya Kwanza administration will prioritize individuals who supported it during the distribution of government employment slots and development projects.

Speaking in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County, during a church service and subsequent fundraiser at Kurgung Boys High School, Gachagua urged the people of Nandi County to be patient as the government works on development projects and employment opportunities, giving precedence to Kenya Kwanza supporters.

In addressing the crowd, he stated, “The President is there, I am here, Felix is here, you know the President, you know my stance that when there are many children, the first ones to be looked after are the first ones. Do you understand? Now, Felix is here, and he is the one connecting the wires; we have planned everything.”

This statement echoed his previous remarks that sparked public debate regarding preferential treatment for government supporters.

Gachagua continued, “Everything is in order. The food is in the kitchen, ready to be cooked. There are many children, but the food is limited. There are children from our home, there are neighbors’ children, and it’s like this, like this. You stay calm. When the food is ready, we are the ones to serve it, and we know the children by face and by stance. We can’t be confused; is there anyone who doesn’t know their children?”

Additionally, Deputy President Gachagua outlined the government’s plans to address the issue of illicit brew in the country.

“In the coming week, we will announce stringent measures that we will take, and those selling illegal alcohol will leave this country. They will leave Kenya. We will announce it,” he declared.

Other Kenya Kwanza leaders discussed the government’s priority agenda items, with the National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah mentioning the recent passage of the Affordable Housing Bill, 2023, to ensure that all Kenyans, especially young people finishing school, secure employment opportunities.
