To help the county of Laikipia transition to the CBC curriculum, President William Ruto has promised 300 new teachers.

The new teachers will be posted by the end of the month, the President told a congregation in Laikipia County on Sunday at an interdenominational church service.

(We have agreed that we will have hired new teachers in Laikipia before the end of this month. The 300 new junior teachers will assist us with the academic transition of our children to junior secondary.)

The Teachers Service Commission recently revealed a severe teacher shortage in primary schools.

In a document tabled in the House of Representatives, the TSC showed that primary schools are experiencing a severe teacher shortage that negatively impacts learning.

All public primary schools need 272,545 teachers, according to the employer of teachers.

The TSC has employed a total of 224,218 teachers across the country.

This suggests that 48,327 teachers in the country are needed.
