Pupils Yet To Report To School Since Reopening Due To Insecurity.
According to NTV, Chepkisin Primary students are currently studying at Kamwetio Primary, which is located 10 kilometers away.
According to Paul Yatich, a teacher at the institution, the lack of students is due to the high levels of insecurity.
“Towards the end of the last term, we lost a neighbour here. He was shot, yet he did not have any animals. He was just preparing for his meal,” he started.
He went on to say that the incident forced many locals to relocate because they were afraid of being ambushed by the ruthless gunmen.
The students seeking an alternative at Kamwetio Primary have caused overcrowding and a struggle for limited resources.
Most of the classrooms do not have enough desks, we use tables, and some of the students have to be taught while standing because the desks are not enough,“ he noted.
Yatich is saddened by the fact that perennial insecurity continues to wreak havoc on the area’s educational environment, as students are constantly on the move.
Chepsir Primary, which was supposed to house 112 students, is now sitting desolately because teachers have also been ordered to stay away.
"We are in talks with the area leaders to pass the word around and inform the children that they can now come back to school,” he said.
