On Friday, a secondary school principal from Bomet was discovered dead in the River Nzoia at Brigadier, on the border of Bungoma and Trans-Nzoia Counties.

On Thursday evening, September 8, it was reported that 47-year-old Isaac Wafula Bukhebi, the principal of a mixed secondary school in Bosto, was gone.

He had informed his wife that he would be purchasing airtime at the Makhele market at Kapkoi, close to the family’s residence in Moisbridge, where the family resides.

John Onditi, Kiminini Sub County Police commander, confirmed the occurrence.

He said the deceased’s wife reported her husband’s disappearance on September 13.

The police chief confirmed that the body was discovered in the River Nzoia.

The deceased principal’s body was sent to the Kitale County Referral Hospital mortuary.

The chief of police disclosed that the autopsy results indicated that the decedent’s bodily system suggested he had taken poisoned food.

“The presence of food poison clearly points to the fact that the deceased could have been poisoned or poisoned himself. The marks on his body could also be a result of hitting himself on stones in the river,” he said.

The death of the principal outraged the leaders of Trans Nzoia, led by Governor George Natembeya.

Waitaluk Ward representative-elect Lusweti Furaha, who is also the chairman of the Trans Nzoia County Kuppet, expressed his condolences to the deceased principal’s family and friends, stating that the teaching community has lost a valuable member.
