Primary School Teacher Kills Retired Colleague With Fork Jembe
On Monday, shock enveloped Kianjege village in Ndia, Kirinyaga County, after a 47-year-old primary school teacher brutally murdered his 65-year-old retired primary school teacher and surrendered himself to the authorities.
According to the suspect’s family, Elijah Wanjohi called his elder sister early in the morning and told her to drive him to the Kianjege police station because he killed his friend and his body was at his compound.
“He recorded the statement and took us to his compound, where we found Mbuthia lying in a pool of blood,” the teacher’s sister, Regina Njeri, explained.
Residents were shocked that Wanjohi could murder his friend, Caxton Mbuthia, considering the two were close friends.

The two individuals were reportedly drinking together at Kianjege shopping centre in the company of another man. At around 2 am, as they were leaving the local bar, Mbuthia chose to accompany Wanjohi to his compound. The details of what occurred thereafter remain uncertain, as indicated by a resident who identified himself as Maina.
Njeri says that she took her brother to a rehabilitation center three months ago for excessive drinking.
Njeri revealed that he had been separated from his wife and children for three years. She expressed the hope that his stay at the rehabilitation center would bring about a positive change. However, she lamented that he ended up killing Mr. Mbuthia.
According to Ndia sub-county police officer Moses Koskei, the teacher killed his companion with a fork jembe.

“We found him lying in a pool of blood at 11 am in the suspect’s compound with serious injuries all over his body,” he said.
The police chief stated that they took Wanjohi to the Baricho police station and are currently interviewing him. Simultaneously, they transported the victim’s body to the Karatina Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
