Police Woman Who Abandoned KCSE Exam Centre For A Drinking Spree Arrested.
A police officer was arrested on Wednesday in Matungulu, Machakos County, for abandoning a KCSE examination center that she was tasked with guarding and going on a drinking spree.
According to police reports, Rachel Wamboi, an Administration Police constable, and her counterpart Elias Kiptoo were assigned dusk-to-dawn guard duties at the Kisukioni exam center when the incident occurred.
Wamboi is accused of duping Kiptoo into thinking she was going out for supper only to return to the examination center heavily intoxicated after allegedly going on a drinking spree within the township instead.
She couldn’t properly handle a state-issued rifle because she was inebriated, so she dropped it on the ground.
This prompted Joshua Komen, a police corporal, to pick up the rifle, which was noticeably missing its magazine. When she was asked for the magazine, Wamboi began to resist, hurling insults at her comrades. Wamboi was forced to disarm by Komen and Kiptoo.
Soon after, the two officers reported the incident to Chief Inspector Ijabo Shukuri, who ordered Wamboi to be transported and held at Tala Police Station.
The chief of police confirmed that another officer had already been transferred to the examination center and that the exam container had not been breached.
This comes barely days after a police officer assigned to guard Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exam candidates left his post at Koiban Secondary School in Nandi North, went after illicit alcohol brewers and demanded bribes.
