Pioneer Insurance Allocates Sh10million Bursaries To Counties

Pioneer Insurance Company has allocated Sh10 million to 24 counties for bursaries and a climate change mitigation program.

Timothy Mutua, the insurer’s manager in charge of customer experience and marketing, said at Mbitini girls’ secondary school in Kitui South that the company is targeting three schools and five students in each school, as well as planting more than 1,000 trees to conserve the environment.

“We are focusing in ensuring we support needy students from poor background in at least 5 schools in all the 24 counties, as well as plant 1000 trees in a bid to ensure the young generation appreciate the environment,” said Mutua.

Mutua went on to say that the Insurance Company plans to expand and cover the remaining 23 counties by next year.

This will contribute to the government’s goal of achieving 10% forest cover, as per President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive, which encourages collaboration between states and non-state actors in efforts to encourage tree planting.

Kisasi Sub County Education Director Emanman thanked the insurance company and urged others to follow in their footsteps.

The company will spend up to Sh3 million on education bursaries for 25 students in each of the 24 counties targeted by the program’s Trees and Scholarships.

Mbitini girls, Migwani boys, Mwitika Secondary, Syomumo girls, and Itoloni girls are among the Kitui schools that benefited, with the insurer spending Sh3 million in each county.
