Paul Mackenzie: Former Classmate Reveals Preacher’s High School Dislikes and Passions
According to a former high school classmate, Paul Mackenzie, a controversial preacher, had a passion for preaching and an aversion to mathematics while in school. Aggrey Ombonya, who claims to be the same age as Mackenzie, stated that they would sneak out of class when their math teacher came in.
The two attended Makupa High School in 1992 and took their KCSE exam in 1994. The private day school in Mombasa has been converted into a hotel since then.
Mackenzie, Ombonya claims, was called “Prof” by his classmates because he frequently spoke about the number 666 and was critical of church doctrines. He adds that the two became great friends after meeting in Form 2. They would regularly skip school, and Mackenzie would usually preach.
“Alikua anaitwa Prof juu alikua anapenda mambo ya kuhubiri mambo na 666, mark of the beast na kupinga mambo na church sana.
Ombonya said that he and Mackenzie lost touch after high school but kept in touch until two years ago when communication ceased. He claims that the last time he spoke with the preacher, Mackenzie informed him that he had sold his TV station, which he used primarily for televangelism, to a well-known prophet in the country.
Mackenzie, according to Ombonya, came from a modest family and struggled to pay school fees. He scored a D plain in his KCSE examination.
