Parents Storm Eregi Girls’ School After 60 Students Hospitalized With Strange Disease
Parents flock to Eregi Girls High School in Kakamega County after 60 students are hospitalized with an unexplained disease.
A group of parents went after the Eregi principal’s office, demanding information about the status of their children.
30 students were admitted to the Kakamega Level Five Hospital, 20 were admitted to the Shibwe Hospital, and 10 were admitted to the Iguhu Hospital.

The students have displayed similar symptoms, including difficulty walking.
According to reports, more students are being hurried to various county health facilities.
Initial laboratory tests reportedly revealed that the students’ electrolytes were elevated, indicating that their systems had lost fluids.
On Tuesday, medical personnel from KEMRI are expected to assess the situation at the school.

The school has not yet issued an official statement regarding the illness that has affected over 50 female students.
On Monday, more than 50 St. Theresa Eregi Girls High School students were taken to hospitals in Kakamega for an unidentified illness.
Some of the students who spoke with NTV reported that they are unable to stand due to weak joints, despite experiencing no discomfort.
