Parents in Distress as Form-4 Student Goes Missing from School
The parents of a form four student who went missing from Obera Boys High School in Homa Bay County on April 2 are appealing for assistance in locating their son.
Samuel Nyariki Marita’s parents had requested the school not to send him home due to unpaid fees, but he is believed to have left with other students who were sent home without the teacher’s permission.
Samuel’s father, Jared Marita, had promised to pay the outstanding tuition fees once he returned from Nairobi, but Samuel disappeared despite his father’s assurance.
Jared stated that the boarding master informed him that Samuel was absent from school, and he was asked if his son had returned home after his colleagues reported him missing.
The Chief Principal of Obera Boys High School, Okoth Olando, confirmed that Samuel Nyariki Marita was indeed missing from the school, and efforts were being made to locate him. According to a fellow student who walked with Samuel to Rodi Kopany town, Samuel used a borrowed phone at a local shop to make a call to an unknown number. However, the contact history on the phone had been deleted before the school administration could inquire further.
The school has filed a report at the Rodi Police Station, and a search has been launched to locate the missing student. Olando explained that there was no apparent negligence on the school’s part that might have led to Samuel leaving without permission.
He clarified that students who were sent home were supposed to pass through the gate and be given an official “leave out” sheet. In Samuel’s case, the deputy called him and provided instructions as per the parent’s request.
The school and Samuel’s family are appealing to the public for any information that could help trace Samuel Nyariki Marita. They have provided a contact number, 0729-220-588, for anyone with relevant information to call or report to the nearest police station.
The parents of Samuel Nyariki Marita are deeply concerned about their son’s disappearance and are desperate to find him. They had hoped that he would return to school once the tuition fees were paid, and his father had assured the school administration of his intention to settle the outstanding balance.
The school authorities are cooperating with the police and taking necessary measures to locate Samuel, while also clarifying that they had followed the parent’s instructions in his case. The search for Samuel Nyariki Marita continues, and anyone with information is urged to come forward and assist in finding him.
