Parents Accuse Teacher Of Impregnating 6 Pupils In Kisii.
A teacher at Nyarenda Primary School in Bomachoge Chache, Kisii county, has been called to account for the school’s spiralling pregnancies.
At least six students are currently pregnant, with the majority of them KCPE candidates.
The parents told journalists on Sunday that they want the teacher arrested and prosecuted.
They claimed that affected students confided in them, claiming that the teacher had preyed on them during prep hours on weekends.
Gender activists have since weighed in, urging the government to launch a rapid, thorough, and decisive investigation into the incident.
A learner told journalists that the teacher drew her into an office and repeatedly defiled her. She’s 6 months pregnant.
“We are saddened, we had high hopes on the teacher but he has turned out to be a beast. Worse still, the ministry officials who were informed more than one month ago are not helping,” said John Kebaso, one of the parents.
According to the parent, the incidents began as soon as the teacher was assigned to the school.
During a visit to the school, activist Cyrus Ogega spoke about the rot.
He also accused the county education director, Pius Ng’oma, of negligence and demanded that he be investigated for possible cover-ups of such vices in the county.
Ng’oma, on the other hand, stated that he only received a phone call from someone and has yet to receive a formal complaint.
Ogega also wants the area MP, Alfa Miruka, to look into the matter to ensure that no more students are caught in the web of defilement by teachers posted in the constituency.
