Panic after a man allegedly poisons food at a primary school in West Pokot County Police in Kapenguria have launched the search for a middle-aged man who allegedly poisoned food for students and teachers at Chepkoti primary school, located in the Siyoi area of West Pokot County.

Friday morning, according to the school’s principal, the school’s food store was discovered to be disorganized.

Then, he observed that the cooking oil had changed color from yellow to a greyish hue, and powder-like particulates, believed to be anti-rodent poison, were visible on the surface of the oil.

The absence of any signs of forced entry into the food store has led to suspicions that the incident may have been orchestrated from within.

Since then, the cooking oil, maize, and beans have been taken for testing.

“We suspect, the man in a company of others entered the head teacher’s office and a food store adjacent to the office on Thursday night and committed the heinous act .

The head teacher alleges that he securely locked the office and found it intact later,” West Pokot sub-county police commandant Kipkemoi Kirui said.

Kirui urged parents to maintain their calm as investigations commence.

No student or member of staff consumed any of the food.

The suspect is also suspected of stealing 6,400 Kenyan shillings, salt, and beans.
