Open University of Kenya Announces 60 New Academic Programmes Including Fully Sponsored Courses; Apply.
The Open University of Kenya (OUK) has introduced 60 new academic programmes, including fully sponsored professional courses.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the institution invited qualified applicants to apply for admission into programmes ranging from short professional training courses to doctoral studies.
OUK said:
“The Open University of Kenya (OUK) is a specialised public university Chartered in August 2023. The University offers quality, affordable, flexible, accessible, inclusive and self-paced online Professional Development Courses and Programmes to Kenyan citizens and beyond. Apply now for the listed courses and programmes.”
Fully Sponsored Professional Courses
According to myGov, the fully sponsored professional courses are:
- Business Models for Entrepreneurs (three-week course)
- Mental Health Awareness (two-week course)
- BCS Generative Artificial Intelligence Applications (10-week ICT certification)
- Meta training programmes: My Digital World, Digital Marketing Associate, and Certified Media Planning Professional
Professional Development Courses
OUK said additional professional development courses will be offered at Ksh 5,000 each for four to eight weeks. These include:
- Corporate Governance
- Accountability Fundamentals
- E-learning Essentials
- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
- Cyber Security
- Software Engineering
- Robotics and Automation
The International Certificate of Digital Literacy (ICDL) certification will be available at Ksh 12,000.
Undergraduate Programmes
The new undergraduate programmes will cost between Ksh 79,000 and Ksh 86,000 per year. These include:
- Bachelor of Data Science
- Bachelor of Business and Entrepreneurship
- Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security
Postgraduate Programmes
Postgraduate programmes announced are:
- Master of Artificial Intelligence
- Master of Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics
- Master of Business Administration
- Master of Education Leadership and Policy
Each of the Master’s programmes will cost Ksh 187,500 for the entire two years.
Doctoral Programmes
Doctoral studies have also been introduced as follows:
- Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management
- Doctor of Philosophy in Education Leadership and Policy
The PhD programmes will take three years at Ksh 337,500.

OUK said:
- For undergraduate programmes: KCSE mean grade of C+ and above, relevant diploma or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- For postgraduate programmes: relevant Bachelor’s degree
- For PhD: Master’s degree in a related field
How to Apply
Immediate KCSE graduates should apply through KUCCPS portal. All others should apply through OUK admissions portal.
