Online KCSE Exam Black Market Emerges as Police Trail WhatsApp Admin. Police Hunt WhatsApp Admin for Illegally Selling KCSE Exams
Police officers in Kisii are searching for a WhatsApp group administrator suspected of profiting from selling KCSE examination papers.
The suspect may be minting millions from WhatsApp group members and other social media channels he has created for the illicit trade, according to a police report.
Per police reports, the suspect demanded Ksh10,000 per student to distribute examination papers to the 12,000 members organized into different groups one hour before the exams.

An official of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) arrested a private Nyanchwa Boys High School student who was taking Mathematics Paper 2.
The KNEC representative observed a mobile phone positioned on a table adjacent to an open window in the classroom adjacent to the examination room while touring the classroom.
The phone was secured with a password-protected safeguard. After completing the mathematics paper two examinations, the private student responded to the KNEC official’s inquiry regarding the device’s proprietor.
According to the police report, she provided the password code, allowing access to the phone. During the examination of the WhatsApp section, she came across the actual Mathematics Paper 2 question paper that had been posted there.

Police officers stationed at the Kisii Police Station immediately responded to the incident. They determined that the sender had distributed the completed math paper 2 to multiple groups before the paper’s commencement at 8:00 am.
The administrator requested an additional Ksh10,000 from each participant before distributing Kiswahili Paper 3. While the mobile phone was reinstated as an exhibit, the student was granted permission to proceed with the subsequent papers.
Subsequently, law enforcement officials initiated inquiries to apprehend the group administrator.
