George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, has warned exam center managers and invigilators not to carry phones into the exam rooms.
Magoha stated on Monday that a number of teachers were caught sending photos of exam papers after the exam had begun.
“We caught certain center managers taking photos of examination papers, about 39 minutes after the exam had started,” Magoha said.
He warned the managers to make sure that all civilians involved in the exam administration leave their phones at home.
Prof Magoha told security officers in Nyeri, where he oversaw the release of the KCPE examination for Nyeri Central, to arrest exam officers who went to the exam rooms with their cellphones.
“Center managers must keep their phones in the offices and they must ensure that all the invigilators and supervisors leave their cellphones in the office,” Magoha said.

Magoha went on to say that a few people are attempting to sabotage the smooth running of the KCPE exam.
“This is not acceptable and we are not going to take it lightly,” he added.
Magoha was speaking after supervising exam material distribution at the Nyeri Central KNEC container.
CS Magoha went on to say that all candidates in the country had begun their exams, even in the most dangerous areas, and that they would be safe until the last day.

“We have beefed up security in that area and they are going to continue today and tomorrow,” Prof Magoha said.
