No KCPE Exam Irregularities, Belio Kipsang
On Tuesday, State Department for Basic Education PS Dr. Belio Kipsang oversaw the opening of a container containing Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examination papers at the Ngong Sub-County Headquarters in Kajiado North.
In the process of unsealing and distributing examination materials, the PS, accompanied by a team of Ministry officials, further allayed any concerns regarding exam irregularities.
He assured students, parents, and educators by reiterating his dedication to openness and safety.
Kipsang, who visited Ngong Township Girls and Boys Primary School, emphasized the government’s resolve to ensure the examinations’ security and smooth administration.

In his address, the PS acknowledged the difficulties posed by the unpredictability of the weather that morning and the day before, when the national examinations officially began.
According to the PS, the presence of the drizzling rain, while not well-received, did not diminish the determination of those assembled, as they shared a collective sense of purpose in confronting adversity.
He went on to express gratitude for the overall smooth process, highlighting that Monday’s proceedings had gone well. Kipsang did acknowledge that there were instances of rain in Marsabit and some areas of Wajir County, but affirmed that the examinations were successfully conducted.
He added that the government had adequately prepared and mobilized in those regions and was able to deploy helicopters to ensure that every student was able to complete the day’s examinations.

The PS added that the rains were also observed in certain areas of Kajiado North Sub County, but that this did not affect their readiness to ensure that every child was able to sit for their exams.
He continued by emphasizing the significance of this examination in Kenya’s education sector, as it is the last in the 844 system and will transition students to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
“This is our last KCPE, as you are all aware, and quite a number of us have gone through the system, which has served us well as a country. The only thing we needed, as we are part of the global community, was to align ourselves with what happens across the globe so that our children benefit from mobility.
Kipsang concluded, “We switched to CBC so that we could also develop the competencies and skills required by our country as it advances.”
