Nairobi Teacher to Serve 20 Years in Prison for Defiling a 15-year-old Student at His School
A teacher from Mukuru kwa Njenga in Nairobi has been convicted to 20 years in prison for defiling a 15-year-old student at his school.
Fredrick Wawire, who appeared before a Makadara court on Wednesday, pleaded guilty to the defilement charge and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) asserts that Wawire violated the minor in March of this year.
The accused, a teacher, admitted to defiling the 15-year-old on multiple occasions in March 2023 at Mukuru kwa Njenga, according to the statement. The prosecutor stated that during the hearing, Wawire had stated in mitigation that the girl had initially sent him love letters.
“A Makadara court has this afternoon sentenced Fredrick Wawire, to serve 20 years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to the offence of defilement. The accused who is a teacher admitted having defiled the 15-year-old child on diverse dates in March 2023, at Mukuru kwa Njenga,” read the statement.
In the case prosecuted by Jacqueline Omol and Joseph Mburugu, Judge Onkwani emphasized the gravity of the crime by stating that a deterrent sentence was required.
