According to the International Schools Database (2022), Nairobi City has the most expensive international schools in Africa.
The 17 January 2023 survey stated that Nairobi had the largest concentration of international schools on the African continent.
Cape Town was the city in Africa with the lowest international schooling costs among the sampled worldwide cities.
For the second year in a row, Nairobi has been identified as the city with the most costly foreign schools.
According to the Foreign School Database, Nairobi has the highest concentration of international schools in Africa.
Parents from Kenya and abroad who wish to enroll their children in international schools must pay school fees of up to Ksh3.8 million.
Although foreign schools in Nairobi are the most expensive on the continent, they provide options for every parent.
According to the report, this is due to the fact that some international schools charge as little as Ksh116,000, while the most expensive school charges Ksh3.8 million.
Kenya was rated 57th globally out of 76 tested cities with foreign schools charging an average of Ksh907,000 per year in school fees.
With an annual average of Ksh500,000 in school fees, Cape Town was the least costly city in 2021, not just in Africa but also worldwide.
In 2022, it moved up one position globally but remained the most affordable city in Africa for foreign education.
In contrast to other African cities, Cape Town has the lowest range of school fees paid. The least expensive foreign school was Ksh273,000, while the most expensive was Ksh699,000.
Addis Ababa and Johannesburg were the second and third most expensive cities on the list.
Kampala, which was ranked third in 2021, fell one level to rank fourth with an average school fee of Ksh653,000.
