Musingu Boys End St. Anthony’s Kitale’s 7-Year Dominance in Hockey Championship
Musingu Boys ended St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale’s seven-year dominance of the hockey championship with a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
Benson Wabuyabo, Musingu Boys’ head coach, praised his team’s resilience and approach, while Mang’u High will join them in Rwanda after beating Meru 2-1 in the playoffs.
“I am very happy winning the title for the first time and end their dominance. However our striking should be ruthless if we are to bring the East African title home,” said Wabuyabo.
Wabuyabo credited the team’s recent success to their strong defense and pledged to work on improving their weaknesses before the upcoming regional games. He admitted that the team needs to address their striking force as they were not very effective in attack during their previous game.
However, he praised the team’s ability to neutralize their opponents’ threat in short corners and emphasized the importance of defending as a unit.
Looking ahead to the regional games, which are scheduled to take place in Rwanda in August, Wabuyabo stressed the need for the team to focus on their weaknesses and make necessary improvements to their gameplay.
He expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to compete at a high level and achieve success in the upcoming competition.
The 2023 Kenya Secondary Schools Term One National Games have seen fierce competition between various schools, with some emerging as clear favorites for the title.
Regardless of the results, the event provides an opportunity for students to learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, which will be beneficial in their future endeavors.
