Mother-Daughter Who Both Sat KCSE 2022 Exams Overjoyed With Results
On Friday, January 20, a mother-daughter pair from Nandi county were overjoyed when the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2022 examination results were announced.
In the KCSE 2022 exams, the mother, who had been out of school for years, scored a D+ (plus), while her daughter scored a B+ (plus).
The mother and daughter performance was favorably received by Kenyans online, who commended her for being a role model to her children and for returning to school after a long absence.
Citizen TV’s Chemutai Goin shared the news stating, “Congratulations Mama Sharon”.
“She has set a good example to those who lost hope thinking that their time to learn had expired. Learning has no limit,” one Kenyan stated.
On Tuesday, January 10, her first daughter was reportedly among the thousands of graduates from Kigango Training College.
While delivering the results, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu guaranteed all candidates that they would be fully integrated into higher education institutions.
He emphasized the need of candidates acquiring technical skills from the country’s numerous Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes.
Other than TVETs, the nearly 700,000 students who scored below C+(plus) have a variety of options, including Teachers’ Training Colleges, Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC), and polytechnics.
Several candidates managed to overcome obstacles and post remarkable results in the 2022 KCSE results. A 22-year-old man from Marsabit County who had been in the hospital for three years scored a B- (minus).
Furthermore, a candidate who dropped out of Kenyatta University (KU) to return to high school on a scholarship scored an A. (plain).
“I worked as a watchman at night at least to have some cash and send back home for my siblings,” he recalled.
