MOE Partner With German Firm To Recruit TVET Graduates

As part of a government-sponsored labor migration program, a German staffing agency will conduct interviews with Kenyans possessing technical and vocational skills for a variety of German industries.

Mr. Ezekiel Machogu, Cabinet Secretary (CS) of Education, met with Mr. Volker Falchi, Managing Director of BBW Group, a vocational education and training company, on Friday at his office in Jogoo House.

Principal Secretary for Higher Education and Research Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, her counterpart for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Dr. Esther Muoria, and senior officials from the Ministries of Education, Foreign Affairs, Diaspora Affairs, and Labour were also in attendance.

Machogu stated that Kenya has cultivated a pool of young people with the technical competencies and abilities to work anywhere in the world.

He stated that the government had established a robust technical, vocational, and training system with extensive training experience and that the company would be able to find employees with the desired skills.

Mr. Falch stated that his company intends to recruit 250,000 individuals for various industries in Germany from around the globe. Additionally, he stated that his company is seeking Kenyans to join the team in order to satisfy the human resource requirements of his country.

Falch stated that potential candidates for recruitment must have the appropriate work ethic, demonstrate the ability to acquire German, and possess the technical competencies and skills required by German industries.

Without skilled workers, a country cannot invest or attract investment, he said, adding that a country can only attract skilled workers by linking training and industry.

According to Mr. Falch, an education and training environment that promotes critical thinking enables students to acquire, apply, and multiply the knowledge and competencies they acquire in school and on the job.

Electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, welding and fabrication, and mechatronics are the initial areas of interest.
