MoE Lauds KNQA Progress, Inaugurates 10-member Council
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu is happy with the Kenya National Qualifications Authority’s (KNQA) recent progress in ensuring that credentials are globally recognized, competitive, and portable, making it easier for people to move jobs and skills around the world.
According to Machogu, the endeavor has necessitated numerous joint sacrifices, and the purpose of this change is to guarantee the complete implementation of the National Qualifications Framework.
The Principal Secretary of the State Department of TVET, Dr. Esther Muoria, delivered the speech in his stead. Former Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis presided over the ten-member KNQA Council at its inauguration.

Mr. Joseph Kanyi represents the Principal Secretary of Technical Vocation, Education, and Training; Isaiah Ochelle represents the Principal Secretary of the National Treasury; Ms. Everlyn Owoko represents the Principal Secretary of Basic/Early Learning; Prof. Mike Kuria, who serves as the Representative of the Commission for University Education (CUE); Dr. Kipkurui Langa’t, who represents TVETA; and a representative of the Central Organization are among the new Council members.
Additional participants in attendance consist of Eng. Stephen Ogenga, the Representative of the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Labour; Ms. Jacqueline Mugo, the Representative of the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE); and Mr. Michael Muturi, who serves as the Inspector General of State Corporations.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu urged a commitment to effectively implementing the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF), emphasizing the significance of the present moment.
According to Dr. Muoria, the government is making steady progress toward implementing significant reforms in the education and training sectors to improve access to education, equity, and relevance, which will ultimately result in respectable employment and a decent standard of living.

The PS stated that the Kenya National Qualifications Framework should ensure that all qualifications are adequately mapped in advance, given the ongoing implementation of CBC and CBET.
Dr. Muoria, addressing the members of the KNQA Council, emphasized the significant challenges ahead in transitioning effectively. She underscored the crucial role of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) in enhancing the visibility of qualifications, skills, and competencies.
In acknowledging the international prominence of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), Dr. Muoria commended KNQA for positioning Kenya on the global stage in KNQF implementation.
She expressed satisfaction in participating in the 1st Continental workshop that brought together representatives from 34 African countries, highlighting the collective commitment to promoting transparency in qualifications and fostering mutual trust between qualification frameworks for lifelong learning.

Dr. Muoria urged the newly elected Council members, who will commence their three-year terms on October 19, 2023, to capitalize on these opportunities and ensure the continued functionality of National Qualifications amidst the dynamic global landscape.
Mr. Stanley Kiptis, chairman of the KNQA, also addressed the PS at the occasion. He assured them that the Authority is fully committed to formulating all necessary national policies that will facilitate the execution of the qualification framework.
Dr. Alice Kande, the Ag. The Director General of the KNQA also spoke at the inauguration session. She maintained, “We are eager to ensure that credentials obtained in Kenya are applicable, credible, transferable, and globally competitive.”
