MKU Staff Embrace Performance Contracts to Improve Productivity
Mount Kenya University (MKU) has taken steps to enhance its service delivery by signing a performance contract with its staff.
This initiative was unveiled by the university’s vice-chancellor, Professor Deo Janganyi, who stated that the performance contract is a commitment by the university’s top management to the council to ensure that quality services are offered to the community through quality learning.
The theme of the contract is “Utilization of Maximum Institutional Capacity for Optimal Performance and Sustainability,” which outlines specific goals and targets aligned with the university’s strategic plan for 2020-2029.
Professor Janganyi further noted that the participation of the university council in the performance contract signing ceremony demonstrates their obligation to ensure total commitment to the delivery of the 2023 targets.
The university is on track in its drive to expand access to quality, affordable university education, and optimal performance will enable the university to unlock the door to higher education for more learners.
The university has increased access to quality education through a robust network of campuses in Nairobi, Parklands, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Meru, and Kigali (Rwanda).
MKU Council Chairman, Professor David Serem emphasized institutional capacity, optimal performance, and sustainability, as what all should aspire to do within the next 12 months, and up to 2029 when MKU’s current strategic plan ends.
Professor Serem committed the council’s total and unwavering support to the university management to ensure that all resources required are provided in line with the 2020-2029 Strategic Plan to build adequate institutional capacity for optimal performance.
In addition, MKU Rwanda recently launched a book documenting its journey in the country and the successes it has recorded.
