Grief and shock have descended upon Kagio town, located in Kirinyaga County, following the tragic discovery of a 9-year-old grade 3 pupil who went missing on Friday.

As residents grapple with the devastating news, fingers are being pointed at a local trader who had been seen buying sweets for the girl before mysteriously vanishing with her.

The girl’s body was discovered in river Rwamuthambi, where it had become lodged against a pipe.

The fortuitous obstruction prevented the body from drifting away, allowing for a timely discovery.

Local resident Reuben Kihara expressed relief, acknowledging that without this fortunate circumstance, it could have taken days or longer before the girl’s body was found.

The Accused and Suspicion:

As the investigation unfolded, suspicions arose around a trader who supplied milk to Wanjiru.

According to witnesses, the trader had been seen purchasing sweets for the young girl shortly before they vanished together.

When concerned residents ventured to the trader’s rented house, they discovered he was not present.

The trader, who is known to Wanjiru, has since disappeared without a trace, deepening the concerns and raising questions about his involvement in this heinous crime.

The Kirinyaga West Sub-county police commander, Moses Koskei, has assured the community that the police have initiated a thorough investigation into the tragic incident.
