The Ministry of Education has offered student scholarship spots for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) students in 2023, allowing them to enroll in secondary schools.

The Ministry of Education released a statement outlining its intention to provide scholarships aimed at assisting beneficiaries in covering school fees, transportation to and from school, school supplies, and pocket money for a duration of four years. According to the statement, the consideration for these scholarships will be extended to students who achieve an average of 280 marks or more.

“The Ministry of Education through the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) and Equity Group Foundation is awarding Secondary School Elimu Scholarships in all 47 counties to needy and vulnerable learners who attained 280 marks and above in the 2023 KCPE exams,” the ministry said in a press release.

Students with disabilities and special needs who received less than 280 marks will also be eligible. Learners from vulnerable and marginalized groups with 250 or higher will also be considered.

The scholarship scheme would also assist girls and boys who attended school in refugee camps and received 240 and 250 marks, respectively.

“Only candidates who sat the 2023 KCPE examinations from public primary school and refugee learners from 49 Camp Based Primary Schools and those refugee learners who attended public primary schools outside the camps in Kakuma, Kalobeyei, and Daadab are eligible,” according to a part of the press release.
