Ministry of Education Targets Land Grabbing with 6-Month School Title Deed Directive

Ministry of Education Targets Land Grabbing with 6-Month School Title Deed Directive.

The Ministry of Education has issued a six-month deadline for all public schools to secure title deeds for the land they occupy. The directive is a response to the increasing incidents of land grabbing affecting public institutions across the country.

County Directors have been tasked to coordinate with school principals and Boards of Management in facilitating the acquisition of ownership documents from the Ministry of Lands.

Elyas Abdi Jillaow, OGW the Director General in the Ministry of Education emphasized that many public schools lacked title deeds, leaving them vulnerable to fraudulent land dealers.

“We have issued a six month directive to all public schools to get their title deeds and County Directors for education should support this exercise,” Abdi said.

Dr. Abdi, while addressing the Inaugural Ministry of Education Conference in Naivasha, assured public schools that the government would assist them in securing land ownership. He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to ensuring compliance with the directive within six months.
