George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, outlined the conditions for accepting a job from President-elect William Ruto.

Magoha stated on Tuesday, September 6, while assessing the progress of Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) schools in Nairobi, that he would accept Ruto’s offer only if their plans aligned.

Ruto’s pledge to back his bid to carry out his mission without hindrance would also be an inducement.

Magoha defended his appropriateness by stating that throughout his term as Education CS, he developed a bond with the kids, providing him an advantage in continuing with the CBC rollout program.

However, he denied reports that he pushed for the construction of CBC classrooms to impress the next administration and be considered for appointment.

Magoha has stated that he will leave office soon after the new government takes control.

“I’m not looking for a job, that’s one. Nobody should mistake that I’m completing this work to show that I want another job.

"But if in his wisdom, the President-elect thought that I would even be half worthy of being considered, we would have a conversation because I have now connected with the poor children.

"If we are thinking in the same direction and he gives me the support that I require, which would mean I do things the way he wants and not any other person, if it is God’s Will, then I will say yes,” he stated.

Magoha has already asked the incoming administration to give him additional time to finish CBC classrooms.

He stated that completing the project would allow for a smooth transition, particularly for pupils in grade six.

After 6500 classrooms were created in phase one, 3500 classrooms are anticipated to be erected in phase two.

More than 1.2 million students will enter junior secondary school in 2023, and the government is racing against the clock to ensure a smooth transition.

“We intend to complete most classrooms by election time. Should there be a small balance, since I am not a politician, and you can judge me on that, only God knows who will be the president; I don’t know, and whoever comes in will be my Commander in Chief.

"I hope that before that person comes in, he will allow me to finish the remaining classrooms,” Magoha stated.
