George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, has assured parents that the government will not disrupt the school calendar again after delaying the resumption date.

Magoha announced on Thursday, August 17, that a petition will be filed to challenge the presidential election results, and that the Supreme Court may order re-election.

The government, according to the CS, will deliberate and provide a path forward while keeping all students’ safety in mind.

Despite the fact that schools are used as polling places, the ministry would rather keep students in school than send them home because voting is a one-day event.

“They (students) can be asked to play games and stay in their hostels,” he stated.
CS Magoha also stated that classes will resume on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

Magoha postponed the reopening of schools on Saturday, August 13, citing the ongoing vote tallying exercise.

“Following the conduct of our National Elections on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, the process of tallying ballots is still ongoing.
