Magoha Calls For Quick CBC classrooms certification.
Prof. George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, has directed officers supervising the construction of CBC classrooms to expedite their certification once completed.
Speaking in Nyamira during the project inspection, the CS instructed the officers to work at the same pace by inspecting and certifying the project’s completion or risk being removed from the process.
He warned that the government would not tolerate empty classrooms because some officers were awaiting completion certificates.
Magoha praised the countrywide completion rate, citing 99 per cent and 72 per cent for Garissa and Nyamira counties, respectively.
To avoid irregularities and ensure accountability, contractors working on the project will be paid through their Safaricom MPESA accounts.
The CS wished the candidates luck and assured them that the government was concerned about their anxieties as they prepared for the exams in the midst of the covid19 pandemic’s effects.
Prof Magoha assured Kenyans that the 6,000 CBC classrooms being built during this first phase would be finished by March 7, when national examinations would begin.
He stated that 2,200 classrooms had been completed and 500 had been commissioned.
The CS noted that Garissa County is ahead, with 99 percent of classrooms completed, followed by Meru and Mandera at 95 percent each, and Wajir and Siaya at 87%.
