Magoha And His Brother Alex Perish in 2 Months
Former Education Minister George Magoha passed away less than two months after his brother Alex Nyabera Magoha.
Nyabera passed away on December 6, 2022 in Allen, Texas, United States.
On Saturday, Alex was to be laid to rest.
The former CS lost his brother Charles Agunga Magoha in Sweden in August of 2021.
Tuesday, Magoha died in a Nairobi hospital after collapsing in his home.
In a statement, the CEO of the hospital in Nairobi, James Nyamongo, announced his passing.
The CEO of The Nairobi Hospital, James Nyamongo, said in a statement, “It is with great regret that we announce Professor George Magoha’s tragic and untimely death this evening at The Nairobi Hospital.”
Prof. Magoha, a graduate of DR Livingstone Primary School and Starehe Boys Centre and School, earned a Bachelor of Medicine from Strathmore College and the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
His path to greatness began as an intern at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where he ascended to senior resident and clinical lecturer in surgery before joining the University of Nairobi in 1988, where he became a full professor in 2000.
At The University of Nairobi, where he served as Vice-Chancellor, he was given the moniker “Buffalo” due to his willingness to confront anyone who displeased him.
Kenyans and leaders have expressed condolences to Magoha’s family and praised him as a devoted leader.
