Machogu Launch Mandera TTC to Address Teachers Shortage in the Region
Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu launched the Mandera Teachers’ Training College (MTTC) and the Mandera Technical Training Institute (MTTI) on Tuesday, concurrently with the release of the Mandera County Education Task Force Report.
During the groundbreaking ceremony at the teachers’ college, Machogu not only initiated the construction but also provided Sh30 million from the government for the expansion of Mandera Teachers’ Training College, allowing for the construction of additional dormitories.

Machogu observed that the increased enrollment of prospective teachers in TTCs will alleviate the teacher deficit in the North Eastern Region and throughout the country.
He pledged to address the teacher shortage by hiring more educators and emphasized the significance of teachers’ and students’ commitment to achieving superior educational outcomes.
In addition, CS Machogu inaugurated a school nutrition program that will benefit over 500 primary schools in the border county and aims to improve enrollment rates and academic performance.
He announced that the ministry anticipates increased funding from a variety of development partners in order to further improve the educational system.

The Cabinet Secretary assured the region that teacher shortages in these areas would shortly be resolved.
In addition, Machogu unveiled the Mandera County Education Task Force Report, which will address existing gaps in the education sector and capitalize on opportunities for performance development and enhanced livelihoods in the region.
Governor of Mandera Mohamed Khalif urged education stakeholders to increase investments in the sector, in line with his vision of providing citizens with quality education.
