The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is conducted by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group affiliated with the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas in Spain.

The ranking considers the quality of education offered by universities and takes into account research output, including both formal and informal scholarly communication.

Notably, diploma mills and questionable institutions are excluded from the rankings. In the African context, South African and Egyptian universities dominate, with the University of Nairobi securing the 15th position.

In the global arena, American universities dominate the top ten, with only one British institution, the University of Oxford, making the list.
