LGBT Students Should Only Be Day Scholars – Magoha
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has denied that there is a regulation prohibiting gays from attending boarding school, claiming that school administrators only remove those who bounce from one bed to another.
When he commissioned a classroom in Parklands, Nairobi, Magoha said, “If you want to hop from one bed to another, then you need to be released to go to a day school where you’ll be closer to your parents who are your first responsibility.”
Even as he reiterated that boarding schools will not allow students he described as invasive and manipulative, the CS stated his views on LGBT student admittance were taken out of context.
“We have no problems with homosexuals who do their business out in the streets. But if you are like the ones we have found, you move from one bed to another, we have proclaimed that those ones shall be day scholars,” he said.
“No one has told you to go and disturb another person’s child. Why don’t you wait until you go home, go to the streets and do what you want?” CS Magoha posed.
Homosexual kids should only attend day secondary schools, according to comments made by the Cabinet Secretary in December 2021.

Various pro-choice lobby groups condemned the remarks as recriminatory, while others praised them.
A group of Kenyan LGBT students demonstrated against a Cabinet minister’s recent request that they be excluded from residential schools. Students and rights groups argue that banning them would be discriminatory and jeopardize their safety.
