KUPPET Wants TSC To Hire 5000 Teachers Ahead Of New Academic Year.
Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has urged the TSC to hire 5000 more teachers ahead of the new academic year, which begins later this month, to address the country’s acute teacher shortage.
The new academic year, which will be compressed, will be more difficult, according to KUPPET SG Akello Misori, lest the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) hires more teachers to cater for the two new transitional exams, the KSCE and the CBC.
Concerning the form one selection for the recently released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, Misori urged parents to be satisfied with the Secondary Schools to which their children will be admitted, citing the country’s limited number of vacancies in national schools.
Meanwhile, Misori has defended his decision to step down in favour of Gladys Wanga for the Homa Bay Gubernatorial seat on the ODM ticket, claiming that it was reached through consensus.
“They have had very extensive consultations at the end of it an agreement has been reached by way of consensus that out of the seven contestants who were here they all agreed to step down and back Honourable Gladys Wanga as a party candidate in Homa Bay County gubernatorial race,” Raila said.

Misori, who was running for Homa Bay County boss, vowed to campaign for Wanga and Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
Raila stated that the exercise was voluntary, and the ODM party allows for consensus building, nomination by delegates, nomination by members, or direct party nomination.
