The Emuhaya MP and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) national chairman, Omboko Milemba also urged the Macharia-led commission to listen to teachers’ concerns and change the provider of medical insurance.
Milemba stated that the current provider (Minet- AoN) has served teachers for a long time and that it is time for a change.
The Emuhaya legislator explained that teachers are not fully satisfied requesting the Teachers Service (TSC) to change providers.
TSC’s Cheptumo stated that the change of providers necessitates numerous tendering procedures, but that this will be taken into account.
“This is something we thought should be met just like other teachers’ provisions,” he said.
TSC CEO Nancy Macharia previously stated that the program is a stand-alone project that requires a separate budget to be factored in.
