KUCCPS Prioritizes A and A- Students for 2022 Course Applications
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) provided an update on the application of courses for 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates on Wednesday, April 4, 2019.
According to KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mercy Wahome, students with grades of A and A- (minus) were given top priority when applying for courses.
Wahome announced at Kirinyaga University’s career day that students who received A and A minus grades would be eligible to sit for any program and choose any course within the sciences and arts category, allowing them to pursue a wide range of opportunities.
According to Wahome, these students would have the flexibility to pursue various paths in their academic and professional careers.
Students with grades of C+, B-, B-, and B+ will only receive cluster points because KUCCPS gives preference to top performers.
Students with grades of A and A- will be admitted to all courses, while students with lower grades will be excluded from in-demand courses.
She explained, however, that plans were in place to open the portal, which has been long overdue.
Wahome stated that all stakeholders would be notified when everything was ready.
She added that notifications would be distributed via the KUCCP’s official web site and social media channels.
The CEO of KUCCPS further urged students to collaborate closely with teachers when selecting courses they were passionate about.
Her statement came days after the organization announced that only KCSE 2022 students would be eligible to apply for undergraduate courses.
According to KUCCPS, it was stated on Wednesday, March 22 that only the candidates who had sat for their KCSE the year preceding the selection were eligible for the online degree application.
It was further mentioned that the individual was supposed to have applied for a degree programme the previous year when the portal for applications was opened.
“Only the candidates who sat for their KCSE the year preceding the selection are eligible for the online degree application. You were supposed to apply for a degree programme last year when we opened the portal for applications,” KUCCPS stated.
