KUCCPS Extends TVET Applications for 2000—2022 KCSE Students; How to Apply

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has extended the TVET application deadline to January 12, 2024. This extension provides a golden opportunity for KCSE holders spanning from 2000 to 2022 to explore the diverse offerings of public TVET institutions.

Students who took the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education twelve years ago can apply for courses and placement in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions again.

This is to ensure that there is sufficient human capital for both local jobs and the worldwide market. The ongoing application period which opened in December last year will run until the selection of a successful applicant on January 12, 2024.

The communication stated that any Form Four leaver with KCSE examination certificates from the year 2000 to 2022, who has not been placed by KUCCPS before, is eligible.

Dr Mercy Wahome, Chief Executive Officer of KUCCPS, urged students to take advantage of the chance and enroll in other courses.

Dr. Wahome encouraged all form four leavers and other eligible youth for TVET courses who have not yet applied to take advantage of the second application exercise.

KUCCPS has also established a new application window for admission to the Open University of Kenya, which provides specialized training, diploma courses, undergraduate programs, master’s programs, and PhDs.

She stated that this is due to the uniqueness of the Open University’s mode of learning and flexible modular program design, allowing students to study at their own pace and convenience.

How to Apply

This application should be filed through the KUCCPS Student Portal, students.kuccps.net, according to KUCCPS.

However, KUCCPS noted that the possibility does not apply to students who took the exam this year, but rather to those who have never applied to study in a higher education institution.

This comes as the Principal Secretary for TVET, Dr Esther Muoria, encourages students to participate in skilling programs so that they can take advantage of various career possibilities in Gulf countries.

Dr. Muoria encouraged TVET graduates to leverage international job offers for skilled workers organized through Government placement for credibility.

After engaging virtually with TVET graduates deployed as skilled workers in various businesses throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the PS expressed encouragement based on their testimonies of working experiences in KSA.

She stated that they work 8 hours a day, receive payment for any overtime, and receive competitive remuneration. The graduates have the opportunity to continually sharpen their skills through work experience.

The administration has reaffirmed its commitment to fairly supporting all students enrolled in institutions and colleges.

According to the country’s New Funding Model for Higher Education, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), the Universities Fund (UF), and the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), there is a enough budget.

HELB CEO Charles Ringera previously stated that the funding would assure equity based on a need evaluation utilizing the Means Testing Instrument.
