KUCCPS Directs Universities and Colleges to Declare Programmes and Capacities for 2026 Placement.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has asked universities, university colleges and tertiary institutions to submit details of their approved programmes and capacities for the 2026 placement cycle.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, October 8, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, directed Vice-Chancellors and Principals of university colleges to declare all programmes and approved capacities through the KUCCPS placement system within the specified period.

“Please note that the declared programmes must be those currently offered by your institution and duly accredited by the Commission for University Education (CUE), or by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) in the case of TVET programmes,” the statement from KUCCPS read in part.

The declaration exercise is referred to as Declaration of Programmes and Capacities and is a critical stage in the annual student application and placement process for public universities, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and accredited Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

The directive applies to Vice-Chancellors, Principals of National Polytechnics, Technical Training Institutes, Institutes of Technology, Vocational Colleges and Secondary Teacher Training Colleges. All affected institutions have been asked to submit complete data on their approved academic programmes and student intake capacities.

KUCCPS has also requested the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to provide details of its approved and accredited courses to be included in the online placement portal.

The agency has also invited the Kenya School of Law to declare its Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies) programme which reached full capacity during the 2025 intake – the first year the programme was included in the KUCCPS placement system.

Only accredited and currently offered programmes will be accepted during the declaration period. Institutions have been directed to ensure all submitted information meets the accreditation and quality assurance requirements as stipulated by the relevant regulatory authorities.

The declaration period opened on October 6 and will close on October 31, 2025. KUCCPS has advised all institutions to meet the set deadlines to enable timely configuration of the placement system ahead of the 2026 placement exercise.
