KUCCPS Issues New Deadline for TVET Applications for September 2025 Intake.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has extended the deadline for applications to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions for the September 2025 intake. The new deadline is Thursday, August 28, 2025.

In a statement released on Friday, August 22, 2025, KUCCPS announced that the application window which was to close on August 22, 2025 will now remain open for an additional week. KUCCPS also reduced the application fee from Kenya Shillings (Ksh) 1,500 to Ksh 500. Applicants can get assistance from designated Huduma Centres or various TVET institutions before the deadline.

KUCCPS invited candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations between 2000 and 2024 to apply for their preferred courses. KUCCPS stated, “TVET placement applications for September 2025 intake have been reopened from August 8 to August 22, 2025. Application fee has been reduced to Ksh 500 to increase access.”

Applications should be submitted online through KUCCPS student portal student.kuccps.net. KUCCPS also advised eligible students to apply for programmes offered at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and other accredited institutions before the extended deadline.

According to the admission criteria, the minimum requirements for entry into TVET programmes are:

  • Diploma (Level 6): KCSE mean grade of C– (minus)
  • Craft Certificate (Level 5): KCSE mean grade of D (plain)
  • Artisan Certificate (Level 4): KCSE mean grade of E

To start the application process, candidates should log in to KUCCPS portal using their KCSE index number, year of examination and password. KUCCPS has stated that applicants can use their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) index number or birth certificate number as the password.

The KUCCPS portal has over 41 public universities, 29 private universities and 32 university affiliated TVET institutions. Students who get placed through KUCCPS will be eligible for government scholarships and HELB funding.

According to 2024 KCSE results, out of 962,512 candidates, 246,391 scored C+ and above and will be admitted directly to universities. The remaining 605,774 will pursue TVET opportunities in 2025 intake.
