KSSSA to Arrest and Prosecute Teachers Fielding Non-Students In School Games
It appears that the Vihiga Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association is taking a strong stance against teachers who involve non-students in school games.
The committee’s vice secretary, Robert Keere, expressed concern over some sports teachers fielding villagers instead of students in sporting activities, potentially denying children the opportunity to benefit from the allocated government funds for school games.

Keere emphasized that only players aged 20 years and below are eligible to participate in school games. He pointed out instances where teachers allegedly procured the services of non-students, leading to the successful complaint against a school that had purportedly qualified to represent Western in the KSSSA title.
To address this issue, the committee is considering punitive actions, including the arrest and prosecution of teachers involved in such practices.
In addition to banning schools that violate sporting rules, Keere mentioned the possibility of involving police officers to apprehend teachers whose teams are found to have gone against school sporting norms.

This strict approach aims to ensure that allocated activity fees intended for students’ sports benefit eligible players and that schools adhere to the rules of fair competition.
The committee’s decision to take strong measures underscores the importance of maintaining integrity in school sports and providing students with the opportunity to participate in activities meant for their development and benefit.
