KNUT Secretary-General Collins Oyuu Involved in Road Accident, Sustains Injuries
Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General, Collins Oyuu, experienced a road incident on his way to Kisumu International Airport.
Oyuu, accompanied by his driver, sustained minor injuries during the accident. A motorcycle caused the accident, forcing Oyuu’s driver to swerve to avoid colliding with the rider.
Fortunately, the motorcycle rider was in stable condition, and Oyuu visited him at the hospital. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties.

Oyuu mentioned that he was en route to a local hospital for a check-up. Online images showing the overturned vehicle with significant damage from the collision were disturbing.
Local residents and law enforcement arrived at the scene to provide assistance and assess the situation.
Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer RTEO Allan Mwangi confirmed the incident, noting that further investigations were underway.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) points out that a substantial number of accidents in Kenya involve motorbikes.

To mitigate these accidents, NTSA underscores the importance of boda boda operators possessing the necessary licenses and adhering to the Traffic Act regulations.
In 2022, NTSA labeled boda boda transport as the riskiest mode of transit, with at least 1,209 fatalities documented.
Over the weekend, a tragic incident occurred along the Southern Bypass, resulting in the loss of three lives. A truck lost control and collided with a private vehicle, claiming these casualties.
