KNEC Withholds 2023 KCSE Results for 2 Nandi Schools
Teachers, parents, and students at Samoei Boys Secondary in Nandi Hills constituency and Taachasis Girls in Tinderet find themselves in disbelief as the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has decided to withhold their 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) results.
The shocking turn of events has left the educational community in dismay. Last year, Samoei Boys Secondary School achieved the title of the best-performing school in the Nandi region for KCSE results, boasting an impressive mean grade of B+ and a mean score of 9.8, surpassing other renowned schools in Nandi county.

Contrary to the expectations, the 2023 KCSE results were withheld without any apparent reasons, causing distress among teachers, students, and parents who were eagerly anticipating the release of individual student results from the portal.
Nandi Hills MP Bernard Kitur expressed his dismay during a press briefing at Samoei Boys Secondary School, describing it as heartbreaking for KNEC to leave parents and students in the dark regarding their results.
He questioned the logic behind releasing results without completing necessary investigations to address concerns over performance.
“We are really in shock as to why such can happen. How can you release results as Education CS or KNEC if you know you haven’t completed your investigation to remove any worries over the performance if that is the case?” Kitur lamented.
Last year’s outstanding mean score of 9.8 at Samoei Boys, celebrated as a sterling performance, fueled expectations for the 2023 class, referred to as ‘the Legends,’ to break records and potentially become the top school not only in the region but nationally. However, the results are yet to be disclosed, leaving 292 students at Samoei Boys uncertain about their fate.

Expressing his shock, parent Paul Suge, who ensured timely fee payments, questioned KNEC’s decision to withhold results from students who diligently fulfilled their academic responsibilities. “We want the KNEC to be human enough to innocent students who did their part fairly,” Suge remarked, emphasizing the need for fairness.
The perplexing situation is not unique to Samoei Boys, as Taachasis Girls Secondary School in Tinderet also experienced a similar fate, with 182 students unable to access their results from the KNEC portal. Parents at Taachasis Girls echoed their confusion and concern over the developments as they attempted to retrieve their children’s results.
The lack of clarity on why other schools, possibly involved in exam malpractices, received results while Samoei Boys, which was not implicated, did not, further fueled the distress among parents and students.
