KNEC Sets Two Months Registration Deadline For 2023 Candidates
The Kenya National Examination Council has announced the registration dates for candidates taking the national exam in 2023.
David Njengere, the chief executive officer of KNEC, stated on Friday, at the release of the 2022 KCSE results, that registration will take place between February 1 and March 31.
“With regard to the 2023 KCPE & KCSE exams, the registration of candidates will begin on the 1st of February to the 31st of March. Every centre has two months to make sure all candidates are registered.”
“Concerning the 2023 KCPE and KCSE exams, the registration of candidates will begin on February 1 to March 31,” he said.
According to Njengere, each center has two months to ensure that all candidates are registered.
Today, over 800,000 candidates who took the KCSE examination in 2022 will receive their results.
The council has administered two KCPE exams, two KCSE exams, and the inaugural KPSEA in 2022.
Parents and teachers were urged not to miss the deadline, since there would be no extension.
“We are starting the process of registering candidates from February 1 to March 31. Every centre has two months to ensure all students are registered.
The school principals must complete and submit the registration forms to the Council.
Noting the significance of registration, the CEO said that unregistered candidates will not be permitted to take their exams.
"Registration of candidates is the first step towards administering an exam. Every centre has two months to make sure that all the candidates are registered,” Njeng’ere added.
The Ministry of Education announced on Friday, January 6, 2023, that the KCPE tests would commence on November 6 and run through November 9.
On Thursday, January 5, the chairman of the National Parents Association (NPA), Silas Obuhatsa, requested that the government consider delaying the normal school calendar’s reinstatement.
Obuhatsa requested that the Ministry of Education provide Grade Six students with sufficient time to transition to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
On Wednesday, December 21, at the release of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu discussed the government’s progress in phasing out the national examinations.
Mchogu stated that KNEC remains committed to delivering legitimate examinations and safeguarding the integrity of the certification process.
