Understanding the KNEC Grade 3 MLP Portal

The Monitoring of Learner’s Progress (MLP) portal is a web-based application equipped with reporting functionalities accessible to the public online.

This portal serves as a pivotal tool for administering the MLP. Its features include facilitating Grade 3 learner registration, providing downloadable assessment tools and instructions, capturing assessment outcomes, and generating various reports.

Registration Process for MLP Grade 3

Grade 3 learners are required to register for the Kenya Early Years Assessment through a simple procedure outlined below:

  1. Visit the KNEC KEYA portal.
  2. Log in using your school’s KNEC code as the username and your KCPE exam registration password as the login credentials.
  3. Navigate to the E-readiness Questionnaire and proceed to Enroll Learners.
  4. Ensure all Grade 3 learners in your school are accurately captured.
  5. If you lack a school code, contact your Sub County Director of Education for assistance.

During registration, the following learner details are mandatory:

  • Official names as per the birth certificate
  • Gender
  • Birth certificate number

Assessment Tools for Grade 3

The Competence-Based Assessment encompasses various tools tailored for different learner categories, including regular learners, hearing impaired, visually impaired, physically disabled, and Special Needs Education (SNE) Foundation Level learners. These tools cover Integrated Learning Areas, Mathematics Activities, English Activities, and SNE Foundation Level tasks.

Scoring and Reporting

After scoring each learner’s performance, reports are prepared for KNEC and individual learners, with scores uploaded to the KNEC website and School Year Reports (SYRs) provided to parents/guardians.
